The appeal is bountiful foods
Higashi Iburi area has a rich natural environment and is located in a relatively flat area, so not merely do the fisheries flourish, but the agriculture and livestock industry flourish as well.
It is home to Shiraoi Beef, a brand that became nationally famous and which was served at the Toyako Summit, and is also rich with seafood such as Sakhalin surf clams that are hauled into Tomakomai Port, which is an international base port. Agriculture and dairy industries flourish in Abira, which is famous for its cheeses. There isn't anything that cannot be grown in Atsuma, and it is mostly famous for haskap berries, while Mukawa is known throughout Hokkaido for its authentic shishamo smelt, as well as branded melons.
These high quality foods are all amazing foods that support the Hokkaido Brand. They have exercised ingenuity in promoting various local delicacies.

There are abundant activities that utilize the blessed natural environment .You can enjoy various experiences, including a casual style that requires no reservation, to experiences that require careful planning and equipment.
In Tomakomai, one can experience playing ice hockey, the sport that represents the city, in the arena where professional hockey players play. Other experiences include activities such as fishing and rafting on Lake Onuma, Lake Poroto and Uyoro and Mukawa River. Most of these can be enjoyed in both summer and winter.
Camping options vary from campgrounds with hot springs, to more rustic campgrounds. Atsuma is also known for surfing, so that may be an option too. We recommend you driving to your destination
The eastern Iburi area is located just one hour by car from New Chitose Airport. The area is full of places to go, like the roadside stations that introduce the special features of the area. The roadside stations in Tomakomai and Mukawa carry a large selection of local products that can be eaten on site, or taken home as souvenirs. It is also close to Upopoy National Ainu Museum and Park that opens in April, 2020, and the Shadai Stallion Station in Abira, where famous racehorses such as deep Impact are kept and can be viewed by the public. There is also a railway museum that houses the D51 steam locomotive, and the Hobetsu Museum in Mukawa, where a reproduction of a dinosaur made of fossils is on exhibit. Besides the great places we have mentioned so far, there are many other fun facilities to visit.
Hot springs are present in each area where one can enjoy a soak in the springs in hot spring facilities of various sizes. We also recommend taking a drive to see the colorful flowers that bloom between spring and summer.
We hope you will drive to Eastern Iburi!!
